Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the free outdoor music festival held in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a stellar line-up of performers that includes a number of Nonesuch artists—Carolina Chocolate Drops, Randy Newman, Emmylou Harris, and T Bone Burnett—along with several artists familiar to fans of Nonesuch. The festival will be held October 1–3.
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the free annual outdoor music festival held in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a stellar line-up of performers that includes a number of Nonesuch artists. Carolina Chocolate Drops (whose recent appearance on the Tavis Smiley show is being rebroadcast on PBS stations tonight), Randy Newman, Emmylou Harris, and T Bone Burnett will each take the stage in Golden Gate's Speedway Meadow over the festival weekend, which runs October 1–3. Specific performance dates and times are still to be announced.
Among the other scheduled performers familiar to fans of Nonesuch are Steve Earle and Sharon Jones, who are both featured on David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's recent Nonesuch collaboration, Here Lies Love; Jimmie Dale Gilmore, whose album After Awhile was released on Nonesuch in 1991; and frequent Emmylou Harris collaborators Buddy Miller, Patty Griffin, and Gillian Welch, who also appears on Sara Watkins' Nonesuch debut album. Also on the festival bill are Elvis Costello, Bonnie Prince Billy, Ralph Stanley, The Avett Brothers, Patti Smith, Justin Townes Earle, Jonathan Richman, Nick Lowe, Buddy Miller, Rosanne Cash, Joan Baez, Richard Thompson, and many others.
