When Ben Folds and Nick Hornby came to New York City last month to celebrate the release of their new collaborative album, Lonely Avenue, on Nonesuch, they met up in the intimate space of the city's Housing Works Bookstore Cafe to discuss the project and have Folds perform a few songs off the album. It was the latest in the "Liner Notes" series presented by SPIN magazine, which aims to explore the cross-pollination of music and literature while raising funds for Housing Works; the Folds/Hornby event raised $10,000 for the HIV/AIDS service organization.
