The current run of k.d. lang's Watershed tour brought her to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area last night for a performance at Bass Performance Hall that the Star-Telegram called a "superb 90-minute set ... A wondrous, multilayered instrument seemingly assembled from smoke, cinders and a husky yearning, the voice ranged over a multitude of moods." Next up is a show at the Paramount Theatre in Austin tonight.

The current run of k.d. lang's Watershed tour brought her to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area last night for a performance at Bass Performance Hall that the Star-Telegram's pop music critic Preston Jones called a "superb 90-minute set."

Jones describes what unfolded on stage:

Ricocheting from jazz to country to folk to something approaching alt-gospel, lang, backed by an ace quintet, reveled in coloring outside the lines and, in the process, delivering one of the finest performances I’ve seen in North Texas this year.

Adjective-laden volumes could be written about lang’s peerless pipes, yet not get close to describing its in-person potency.

A wondrous, multilayered instrument seemingly assembled from smoke, cinders and a husky yearning, the voice ranged over a multitude of moods.

And from North Texas, k.d. takes those "peerless pipes" further south tonight for a show at the Paramount Theatre in Austin. For more information and upcoming tour dates, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
