The Staves have been nominated for two UK Americana Awards: UK Album of the Year for If I Was and UK Song of the Year for the album track "Black & White." (You can watch a live take on "Black & White" here.) The awards will be presented to the winners at the inaugural UK Americana Awards show at St John at Hackney on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. The band will perform at the Firefly Festival in Delaware in June.

The shortlisted Awards nominees for the UK Americana Awards 2016 have been announced, and among them are The Staves, who are up for UK Album of the Year for If I Was and UK Song of the Year for the album track "Black & White." (You can watch a live take on "Black & White" below.) If I Was was released earlier this year on Nonesuch Records in the US. The awards will be presented to the winners at the inaugural UK Americana Awards show at St John at Hackney on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.

"The voices are still silken, the sibling harmonies still graceful," says the Guardian of the new Justin Vernon–produced album, but with "the music taking thrilling leaps in character and complexity." The New York Times says the trio brings "angelic harmonies" to the "consistently daring" album. Stereogum calls it "essential listening."

To pick up a copy of If I Was in the US, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout. The band will perform at the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware, in June; tickets are on sale now.

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
