This production is directed and designed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, who also directed the original production of Road Show at New York's Public Theater in 2008, which New York called “a boisterous picaresque about two brothers flimflamming their way from the Yukon to Boca Raton at the turn of the 20th century.”

Stephen Sondheim's latest musical, Road Show, receives its European premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London tonight, following two weeks of previews. This production is directed and designed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, who also directed the original production of Road Show at New York's Public Theater in 2008. Nonesuch Records released the original cast recording of that production in 2009 and also released the cast recordings of Doyle's Broadway reimaginings of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (2006) and Company (2007).

Road Show reunites Stephen Sondheim (music, lyrics) and John Weidman (book), the creative team behind 2003's Bounce, and re-examines its tale of the real-life Mizner brothers, Addison and Wilson. New York magazine called Road Show “a boisterous picaresque about two brothers flimflamming their way from the Yukon to Boca Raton at the turn of the 20th century.” Nonesuch also released the original cast recording of Bounce in 2004.

The Menier Chocolate Factory has previously presented acclaimed productions of Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George and A Little Night Music. Starring in its production of Road Show are David Bedella, Michael Jibson, Jon Robyns, Gillian Bevan, and Glyn Kerslake. For more on the production, which runs through September 17, and tickets, go to menierchocolatefactory.com.
