The Black Keys will perform at the 55th annual Grammy Awards, where they are nominated for five awards—Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album. This will mark the band's debut performance on the Grammy telecast. In 2010, the duo won three Grammy Awards for their breakout album, Brothers. The 55th Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on February 10, broadcast live on CBS. The Black Keys will tour with special guests The Flaming Lips this April and May.

These honors conclude a highly successful year for the duo, whose critically acclaimed Nonesuch album, El Camino, was recently certified RIAA Platinum. Internationally, the record is Gold in France, Belgium and Holland; Platinum in Ireland and UK; and double Platinum in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

Earlier this week, The Black Keys announced a series of tour dates with special guests The Flaming Lips for this April and May. The bands will perform at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri; CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh; Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta; and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Released December 6, 2011, on Nonesuch Records, El Camino was produced by Danger Mouse and The Black Keys and was recorded in the band’s new hometown of Nashville during the spring of 2011. The record debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 and the band is the #1 most played artist at Alternative and AAA radio formats for 2012. The album’s first single, “Lonely Boy,” reached #1 on the Alternative and AAA charts; it also entered the top 10 at Rock radio. The second single, “Gold on the Ceiling,” also reached #1 on Alternative radio and the third single, “Little Black Submarines” is currently top 3 at Alternative radio. In addition to El Camino’s success, the band's previous album, Brothers, was recently certified RIAA Platinum.

    The Black Keys have secured the No. 1 Current Rock Album and No. 1 Current Alternative Album in US sales following the release of their new album, Ohio Players, last week. The album also is the highest debut of the week on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums Chart and Top Alternative Albums Chart, at No. 5 on both charts, and has reached No. 4 on Overall Current Album sales and No. 26 on the Billboard 200.     Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
