The Low Anthem kicks off its summer tour this weekend, starting three weeks of shows along the East Coast of the United States, from Virginia to Vermont. First up is a spot on the Main Stage of the Green River Festival in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Sunday afternoon. Also performing over the festival weekend is label mate Allen Toussaint, as well as bands like Cake, Calexico, Old Crow Medicine Show, and The Felice Brothers.

The next night, the Providence, Rhode Island-based quartet returns to its hometown to perform at a special event. On Monday, July 19, The Low Anthem will headline a benefit concert at Firehouse 13 in Providence to support the Congressional campaign of David Segal. Segal is running to represent Rhode Island's first congressional district, filling a seat currently held by Congressman Patrick Kennedy, who is retiring.

The band members report that they are longtime friends and supporters of David Segal's and are excited to play a few songs at this special fundraiser. Also performing are Joe Fletcher & the Wrong Reasons and 'Mericans. At the end of the month, July 31, The Low Anthem returns to Rhode Island to perform at the famed Newport Folk Festival for the second year in a row. This time around, the band will take to the festival's Main Stage, where John Prine will perform later the same day.
