Philip Selway will be the guest on NPR's World Cafe today. Tune in on NPR stations across the United States or listen in online at xpn.org to hear Selway talk with the show's host, David Dye, and perform songs from his solo debut album, Familial. Selway recently selected the winner in the search for collaborators to remix the album track "Beyond Reason," which you can download at Spinner.

Philip Selway will be the guest on NPR's World Cafe today. Tune in on NPR stations across the United States or listen in online at xpn.org to hear Selway talk with the show's host, David Dye, and perform songs from his solo debut album, Familial, released earlier this year on Nonesuch and Bella Union. The episode will also be posted later today to npr.org.

Selway recently selected the Grand Prize Winner and two Runners-Up in the search for collaborators to remix the song "Beyond Reason" off of Familial. All of the winners, including the top 15 honorable mentions chosen by popular vote, received memberships to Indaba Music, the site that hosted the search, along with copies of Familial on vinyl, signed by Selway. "It was great hearing 'Beyond Reason' taken in so many different directions," Selway says. "There was so much good work to choose from. The three winners really made the song their own and they stand up as pieces of music in their own right."

You can hear all the winning remixes posted in last Thursday's Nonesuch Journal. Spinner's Michael D. Ayers has written about the contest and the winning remixer, Alek.Fin; you can read all about him and download his remix at spinner.com.

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024.
