As noted in the Nonesuch Journal on Friday, Pat Metheny and his Orchestrion were featured on CBS Sunday Morning this past weekend. On the show, the guitarist-composer gave CBS correspondent Russ Mitchell a behind-the-scenes look at the Orchestrion, the one-man band featured on his latest Nonesuch release, also titled Orchestrion, and explained the inner workings of the cutting-edge instruments and performance methods he used on the album and subsequent world tour. Metheny also discussed his personal inspiration for the project the Guardian called his "most ambitious experiment" yet.

Metheny has previously announced plans for a fall European tour with his trio, featuring Larry Grenadier and Bill Stewart, as well as two dates at the Seoul Jazz Festival in Korea next month with Gary Burton, Steve Swallow, and Antonio Sanchez. Metheny has also hinted at a US tour this fall in small, intimate venues playing solo and duo with bassist, Larry Grenadier, with more information to follow.

In the mean time, the National Guitar Workshop has just announced an exclusive five-day workshop with Metheny to take place this August at the Spa of Norwich Inn, located in picturesque Norwich, Connecticut. This special event is a rare opportunity to study in an intimate setting with Pat and his trio, featuring Christian McBride and Antonio Sanchez. The workshop is open to any intermediate to advanced jazz instrumentalists, whether you play guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, brass or woodwinds.

Each evening will also feature a private concert including Pat and his trio and a special night that will include guitarist/educator Mick Goodrick. Workshop participants will also get the opportunity to perform during an evening concert.
