Audra McDonald was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC last night. She spoke with Fallon about her upcoming return to Broadway in Shuffle Along, which begins previews on March 15 and opens on April 28, and more. The revival of the 1921 musical Shuffle Along is directed by George C. Wolfe and choreographed by Savion Glover. Tickets are available now at shufflealongbraodway.com.

In her previous turn on Broadway, McDonald portrayed Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson's musical play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. An HBO presentation of Lady Day, filmed before a live audience at Café Brasil in New Orleans in 2014, will premiere on Saturday, March 12.

Audra McDonald’s fifth solo album, Go Back Home, was released on Nonesuch Records in 2013, and followed her previously released albums Build a Bridge (2006), Happy Songs (2002), How Glory Goes (2000), and Way Back to Paradise (1998).

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
