Audra McDonald helped ring in the holiday season by joining Stephen Colbert to sing “Baby It’s Cold Outside” on The Colbert Report last night. Watch the performance here. As the recently named official host of the PBS series Live From Lincoln Center, McDonald will host seven broadcasts through spring 2013, starting with “The Richard Tucker Opera Gala” this Thursday, December 13, and including the New York Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Gala, “One Singular Sensation: Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch,” on Monday, December 31, in which she will also perform.

McDonald was recently named the official host of the landmark PBS series Live From Lincoln Center and will host seven broadcasts through spring 2013, starting with “The Richard Tucker Opera Gala” this Thursday, December 13, and including the New York Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Gala, “One Singular Sensation: Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch,” on Monday, December 31. Earlier this year, McDonald won the Tony Award for Best Actress for her role in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, thereby joining Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury as the only performers in Tony history to win five awards.

Audra McDonald has recorded four solo albums for Nonesuch Records: Way Back to Paradise, How Glory Goes, Happy Songs, and Build a Bridge.

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
