Audra McDonald helped ring in the holiday season by joining Stephen Colbert to sing “Baby It’s Cold Outside” on The Colbert Report last night. Watch the performance here. McDonald was recently named the official host of the landmark PBS series Live From Lincoln Center and will host seven broadcasts through spring 2013, starting with “The Richard Tucker Opera Gala” this Thursday, December 13, and including the New York Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Gala, “One Singular Sensation: Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch,” on Monday, December 31. Earlier this year, McDonald won the Tony Award for Best Actress for her role in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, thereby joining Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury as the only performers in Tony history to win five awards.
Audra McDonald has recorded four solo albums for Nonesuch Records: Way Back to Paradise, How Glory Goes, Happy Songs, and Build a Bridge.
