Caetano Veloso, inspired to protect the rainforest of his native Brazil from further destruction, came together with Lenine, Criolo, Emicida and Pretinho da Serrinha, along with many other celebrated Brazilian musicians, in Rio de Janeiro’s Floresta da Tijuca to create a music video and original composition released today, in celebration of Earth Day 2014. "I’m Alive: The Floresta da Tijuca Sessions," which you can watch below, was conceived of and led by producer Andres Levin of Content-OS, who directed and produced the film alongside Paula Lavigne and Fernando Young. The song "I’m Alive" uses excerpts from Caetano Veloso’s classic tune "Nine Out of Ten," from which all the artists composed original material.

The musicians and filmmakers spent three days in Floresta da Tijuca, part of Parque Nacional da Tijuca, which supported the project by offering its landscapes to film. The project supports the Rainforest Alliance, which works in partnership with Brazilian nonprofit Imaflora—as well as farmers, forest communities and cattle ranchers—to protect Brazil’s magnificent and ecologically fragile natural heritage.
