Carolina Chocolate Drops' tour brought the band to the Mystic Theater in Petaluma, California, this spring. While there, the band sat down backstage with PBS's Sound Tracks: Quick Hits to discuss their new album, Leaving Eden, the history of the band, and the music they champion. Band mates Dom Flemons and Rhiannon Giddens gave an exclusive backstage performance. Watch both videos plus two songs from the stage here. Says Quick Hits: "It's hard to imagine a quartet being more in sync than the Drops are during this virtuoso, rowdy romp."

Carolina Chocolate Drops' tour of the United States brought the band to the Mystic Theater in Petaluma, California, this spring. While there, band members Dom Flemons and Rhiannon Giddens sat down backstage with PBS's Sound Tracks: Quick Hits reporter Mirissa Neff to discuss their new album, Leaving Eden, released earlier this year on Nonesuch Records, the history of the band, and the music they champion.

While backstage, Flemons and Giddens gave Quick Hits an exclusive performance of the square-dance tune "Old Corn Likker." Quick Hits also captured two songs from the full band, including band mate Hubby Jenkins, as well as cellist Leyla McCalla, on stage at the Mystic Theater: "No Man's Mama," from Leaving Eden, and "Trouble in Your Mind," from their Grammy Award–winning Nonesuch debut album, Genuine Negro Jig. Says Quick Hits: "It's hard to imagine a quartet being more in sync than the Drops are during this virtuoso, rowdy romp."

    Kronos Quartet's Album 'Pieces of Africa' Inducted Into National Recording Registry at Library of Congress

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
