Devendra Banhart and his band—Matthew Compton, Josiah Steinbrick, Todd Dahlhoff, Noah Georgeson, and Rodrigo Amarante—toured South America in 2014, making stops in Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia with music from his Nonesuch Records debut album, Mala. He invited artist and filmmaker Adam Tullie along to capture the trip. Tullie created a short film, set to a selection of Banhart's home demos and one of his poems. You can watch it below.

"The intent of this short film was to simply capture a moment in time, grasp a rolling tone; the visual harmonics of life on the road," says Tullie. "The overall landscape is beyond beautiful, strewn with lush color and tropical flora. The people reflect this; lively, bright, and full of love. Throughout the duration of our travels I shot exclusively on a simple Canon Rebel T2i, all handheld. There were no choreographed motions or takes; each shot spontaneous, riding the moment.

"Tour-life is split between high-spirited bouts of electric vibrancy and winding doldrums of jetlagged drudgery," Tullie goes on to say. "It’s an interesting contrast where humor consistently reigns supreme."
