Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell have sat down for a chat about their new collaborative album, Old Yellow Moon. In the video, the duo partners discuss the roots of the album, their first official collaboration together since Crowell joined Harris's Hot Band in 1975, and offer a few intimate acoustic takes on some album tracks. “Rodney and I have been talking about doing a project together probably almost since we met," Harris says in the video. "It seemed like it was inevitable that we would do it. But as the years went by, one day I just thought," she laughs: "It’s getting late.” Watch it here.
Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, whose new collaborative album, Old Yellow Moon, is set for its Nonesuch Records release in the US on February 26 and March 4 outside the US, have sat down for a chat about the project in a new video, posted below.
In the video, the duo partners discuss the roots of the album, their first official collaboration together since Crowell joined Harris's Hot Band as a guitarist and harmony singer in 1975, and offer a few intimate acoustic takes on the album tracks "Black Caffeine," "Hanging Up My Heart," and "Chase the Feeling."
“Rodney and I have been talking about doing a project together probably almost since we met," Harris says in the video. "It seemed like it was inevitable that we would do it. But as the years went by, one day I just thought," she laughs: "It’s getting late.”
The two discuss their song choices for Old Yellow Moon, like Crowell's "Bluebird Wine," and the world-renowned musicians who joined them to perform on the record, including Stuart Duncan, Vince Gill, Bill Payne, and members of the original Hot Band.
They also give a taste of what's to come when Harris and Crowell head out on tour with music from Old Yellow Moon starting next month in New Orleans.
"I can't wait to sing these songs for people and get back on the road like Rodney and I were together back in 1975," says Harris. "I know we're going to have some fun. I love these songs."
