Olivia Chaney gave a special surprise performance at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, broadcast live from Waterfront Hall in Belfast last Wednesday. She sang Nick Drake's "River Man," accompanying herself on the piano and joined by violinist Jordan Hunt, in tribute to the late singer-songwriter on his induction into the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Hall of Fame. Chaney will tour the UK and Europe as special guest of Alela Diane starting at Union Chapel in London this Thursday and making stops in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, and France in the coming weeks. Chaney and her Nonesuch label mate Sam Amidon share a double bill at Green Note in London on May 1 for a sold-out show to benefit fRoots magazine, and she performs at The May Fayre in London later that month. Olivia Chaney made her Nonesuch Records debut with the release of her album The Longest River in 2015 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for The Queen of Hearts, the 2017 debut from Offa Rex, her collaboration with The Decemberists.
