Chris Thile hosted his public radio show Live From Here live from The Town Hall in New York City on Saturday, leading a very Nonesuch episode with musical guests Rachael & Vilray, Rachael Price (of both that duo and the band Lake Street Dive), and Gabriel Kahane, plus fellow guests Mavis Staples (with whom Yola will share a bill at the Holiday Cheer for FUV in New York on December 10) and Janeane Garofalo.

Rachael & Vilray performed three songs from their recently released self-titled debut album: "Do Friends Fall in Love?," "Let's Make Love on This Plane," and "Laundromat Swing." On the album, Rachael Price and composer, singer, and guitarist Vilray perform those three originals by Vilray but seven more of his tunes and two covers. Here's their performance from the show:

Rachael Price also sang vocals with the band, including the weekly musicians birthdays medley and a cover of "Stuck Together Pieces" from Atoms for Peace, the supergroup of Thom Yorke, Flea, Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker (also performing with the Live From Here house band), and Brazilian percussionist Mauro Refosco, who is currently in David Byrne's American Utopia on Broadway. Gabriel Kahane sat in with the Live From Here band for the episode, ahead of his performance at New York's Rockwood Music Hall to mark the vinyl release of his 2011 album, Where are the Arms. On the show, he performed two of his Twitter songs ("God's Perfect Killing Machines," "Fleischlied für Mitt Romney") and "Calabash and Catamaran" from that 2011 album, which you can watch below. Kahane made his Nonesuch debut with the 2018 album Book of Travelers.
