Wilco has just completed its tour of Europe that included a show at the Forum in London that the Independent called "one of the best gigs of the year, by one of the best bands in the world." As previously announced in the Nonesuch Journal, the band will hit the road again starting in February for a North American tour that includes a free outdoor performance for Vancouver's Olympic Winter Games "Live City" festivities and ends in Georgia at the Savannah Music Festival in late March. Wilco was also named headliners at England's End of the Road Festival in September.
Now comes word that the band will be returning to Japan and Australia beginning in late April. First up are two stops in Japan, in Osaka and Japan, followed by five performances in Australia, with a night in Brisbane, one in Sydney, another in nearby Marrickville, and two nights in Melbourne. Australia's The Vine says the band was "reliably excellent" in their last Melbourne show, in "that hypnotic, skillful vein of Americana that suggests the band could play pretty much any style of music they want and still be better than most everyone, in any era."
