Congratulations to Offa Rex, Randy Newman, and the Metropolitan Opera on their Grammy Award nominations: The Queen of Hearts (Best Folk Album), "Putin" (Best Arrangement), and Berg's Lulu (Best Opera Recording), respectively. The 60th Grammy Awards will take place at NYC's Madison Square Garden on Sunday, January 28, 2018, broadcast live on CBS.

Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold and Casey Wescott stopped by BBC Radio 6 Music to perform "If You Need To, Keep Time on Me," from their album Crack-Up on the Lauren Laverne show. Pecknold spoke with Laverne about the album and the ongoing tour and gave a solo take on the Jimmy Webb (via Nina Simone) song "Do What You Gotta Do." You can hear the set here. The European tour continues through next week. The band will tour Australia, New Zealand, and Asia in December and January.

With more than a month to go before 2017 comes to a close, the UK music magazines have begun to weigh in on the year's best music. Uncut, Mojo, and Q have all published their lists of the Best Albums of the Year, and included among them are a number of Nonesuch releases: the latest albums from Fleet Foxes, Rhiannon Giddens, Randy Newman, Robert Plant, The Magnetic Fields, and Offa Rex.

Jeremy Denk was on WNYC's Leonard Lopate show. Denk, whom Lopate calls "one of America's foremost pianists," talks about his career in music and writing ahead of a solo recital at 92Y in NYC on December 9. Rhiannon Giddens begins a tour of the UK and Ireland with music from her new album, Freedom Highway, at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London tonight. The tour continues with concerts in Bristol, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Pocklington, Manchester, Dublin, Glasgow, and Gateshead. She joins Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne in France in December.

Robert Plant and his band the Sensational Space Shifters begin a month-long, sold-out tour of the UK, with music from his new album, Carry Fire, at Plymouth Pavilions tonight, followed by shows across England, Scotland, and Wales, including London’s Royal Albert Hall. Plant and the band tour North America starting in February and Australia in March.

Chris Thile has released a new song, "Elephant in the Room," from his forthcoming album, Thanks for Listening. The album, due December 8 digitally and December 15 on vinyl, is a collection of new studio recordings of songs originally written as Songs of the Week on A Prairie Home Companion. Robert Plant spoke with PBS NewsHour's Jeffrey Brown about his new album, Carry Fire, and more. "Weaving—the musical weave in the beginning, the groove and the kind of—the essence of the music that surrounds the songs, but just being able to get to a place where the music is paramount, it’s discrete, slightly exotic," Plant says of the musical journey that led to the new album. Asked about its sounds and influences, he continues: "They just come from a fortunate life traveling and keeping very good company. I was always gathering more and more fuel. I was buying cassettes in the marketplaces and listening to variations on themes, and just such an amazing encyclopedia of music I developed slowly."

Mandolinist/singer Chris Thile and pianist Brad Mehldau begin a nine-city European tour, performing songs from their 2017 debut duo album, Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, at Teatro dal Verme in Milan, Italy, tonight. The duo stays in Italy for a performance at Teatro Zancanaro in Sacile on Thursday, before heading to Amsterdam, London, Paris, Munich, Leverkusen (Germany), and Zürich. The tour concludes with a concert at Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna.
