We Are Who We Are, a new series from Luca Guadagnino, the director of Call Me By Your Name and I Am Love, premieres on HBO and HBO Max tonight. As with many of Guadagnino's projects, the new show features several recordings by composer John Adams, starting with a selection from his 1995 song play I Was Looking At the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky on tonight's episode, and more in the weeks ahead.

David Byrne’s American Utopia will debut October 17 at 8pm ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max. The special event, directed by Spike Lee, presents a one-of-a-kind, dynamic film that gives audiences access to Byrne’s critically-acclaimed Broadway show that played to sold-out, record-breaking audiences. The filmed version was recorded during its late 2019 to early 2020 run at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre in New York City. You can watch a first look from it here.

Sam Gendel joined singer, songwriter, and producer Ethan Gruska for a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's online series Play At Home, pictured above with guitarist Ryan Hommel. The performance, which debuted today, was filmed at Sound City Studios back in February, shortly before the release of Gendel's Nonesuch debut album, Satin Doll. You can watch it here.

Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, and Vince Gill—whose rich history and friendship runs for almost 50 years—reunited to perform a concert for Grand Ole Opry's Saturday night broadcast live this past weekend. Randy Newman was the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. He gave a performance from home of "Mr. President (Have Pity on the Working Man)," a song from his 1974 album, Good Old Boys. You can watch it here. "Maybe you’re cheatin' / Maybe you’re lyin' / Maybe you have lost your mind / Maybe you only think about yourself," the lyrics go. "Too late to run, too late to hide now / The time has come for us to say goodbye now / Mr. President, have pity on the working man."

Randy Newman was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert from home to perform his new song, "Stay Away," a public service announcement for social distancing. "People are saying it's the greatest song ever written or that they've heard," Newman quips. "A lot of people are saying it. I'm not; it's they who are saying it." You can watch it here. Proceeds from the song support the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in New Orleans.
