Chris Thile, the new host of the public radio show A Prairie Home Companion and duo partner of label mate Brad Mehldau on a just-announced forthcoming album, was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night. He sat in with Jon Batiste & Stay Human throughout the show and was accompanied by them in a performance of "My Oh My," a song from the 2015 Punch Brothers album The Phosphorescent Blues. Rhiannon Giddens took part in the TED conference in February of this year. She joined the Silk Road Ensemble to perform "St. James Infirmary," a traditional tune made famous by Louis Armstrong and which Allen Toussaint recorded for his Nonesuch debut album, The Bright Mississippi. The Metropolitan Opera's performance of Alban Berg's Lulu is now available on Blu-ray and DVD together in one package from Nonesuch Records. The Met's new production, directed by acclaimed South African visual artist William Kentridge, premiered in 2015 and starred Marlis Petersen in her final performances as Lulu, a role she has made "hers and almost hers alone" (Opera News) in ten different productions over eighteen years. The New York Times called it "a stunning and searing production." The production will be presented at English National Opera in November.

Conor Oberst was the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC last night. He was joined by bassist Miwi La Lupa to perform two songs—"Gossamer Thin" and "Till St. Dymphna Kicks Us Out"—from his new solo album, Ruminations, released earlier this month. You can watch the performance here. Obert resumes his Ruminations tour in his hometown of Omaha on November 3. 

Rhiannon Giddens joined a stellar line-up to perform at the ceremony awarding Bill Murray the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at The Kennedy Center last weekend. The ceremony—which also features Aziz Ansari, Roy Blount Jr., Jane Curtin, Bill Hader, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, Brian Doyle Murray, Paul Shaffer, Emma Stone, and Sigourney Weaver—will be broadcast on PBS stations across the US this Friday night at 9/8c. Conor Oberst celebrated the release of his new album, Ruminations, by performing the record in its entirety at New York City's Housing Works Bookstore Cafe last Friday. The performance, co-presented by NPR Music's Bob Boilen and WFUV Radio's Rita Houston, was webcast live via NPR Music's Facebook page. You can now watch the full album set here via NPR Music. "Ruminations is one of Conor Oberst's most personal records," says Boilen, "a collection of brave, dark songs ... that are unmistakably moving and contain some of Oberst's best lyrics and imagery."

Devendra Banhart, whose new album, Ape in Pink Marble, was released on Nonesuch Records on Friday, has unveiled the official music video for the album track "Saturday Night." The video was directed by Jon Beasley and Isabelle Albuquerque of Osk Studio. Banhart says: "I'm so excited and honored to have had Osk Studio make this music video for 'Saturday Night.'" Composer Nico Muhly and singer/songwriter Teitur have released a second song off their forthcoming album, Confessions, due October 21: "Don't I Know You from Somewhere." The track is available to download now with pre-orders of the album, along with the previously released album opener, "Describe You." The album's lyrics were inspired by video the pair found on YouTube. In 2009, Muhly, Teitur, and Holland Baroque toured the Netherlands, performing Confessions with the videos that inspired it, such as the one seen here for "Don't I Know You from Somewhere," projected behind the players.

Lake Street Dive stopped by the Bose studios to give a Bose Better Sound Sessions set, performing two songs from its Nonesuch Records debut album, Side Pony—"Godawful Things" and "Mistakes"—and sharing what music means to them. You can watch the session here. The band resumes its US tour in August and is on the road through November, when it heads to the UK and Ireland.

Audra McDonald joined scores of fellow members of the Broadway community last week to record Burt Bacharach / Hal David's "What the World Needs Now Is Love" for a new charitable initiative, Broadway for Orlando. The song, released by Broadway Records, is available to purchase at the label's site. The recording was made to honor the victims of the Orlando shooting massacre at Pulse nightclub; 100% of the proceeds from sales of the song will benefit the GLBT Center of Central Florida.
