Lake Street Dive announces new tour dates for January 2019 in support of their album Free Yourself Up. Following a successful run of 80+ performances in 2018, shows in the New Year include Charlotte, Orlando, Birmingham, New Orleans, and more. The band will be honored for its support of music and arts education at the Little Kids Rock Benefit in NYC on November 8 and sit down for a conversation with Stephen Colbert at a sold-out 92nd Street Y event on November 12.

Fleet Foxes have released "Isles," a song from the B-Sides & Rarities disc of First Collection 2006–2009, their forthcoming special limited-edition collection marking the tenth anniversary of their debut album, due November 9. The song is included with pre-orders of the special collection and can be heard on Spotify, Apple Music, and here, via YouTube.

Punch Brothers stopped by Spotify Studios in NYC to perform "Jumbo," from their new album, All Ashore, and to offer a new spin on Tame Impala's "Let It Happen." Hear both as exclusive Spotify Singles here. The band brought its US tour to a close last week and heads to Europe to tour in November. Chris Thile has a solo show at the University of Florida tonight and kicks off the new season of Live From Here in October.

Congratulations to Rhiannon Giddens, who has made The Root 100 list of influential African Americans. The acclaimed trio Mountain Man's first album in eight years, Magic Ship, is out now. The record includes eleven originals plus interpretations of songs by Ted Lucas and Michael Hurley, and a traditional hymn—"intimate, close-harmony songs that tap into an ageless essence of traditional ballads and lullabies as they contemplate companionship, family, love and death," says the New York Times. Nonesuch Store CD and vinyl orders include an exclusive signed print while supplies last; bundle options include an exclusive tote bag. The trio will be at Rough Trade in Brooklyn on September 24 and will tour the US this fall.

Fleet Foxes will release a special limited-edition collection to mark the tenth anniversary of their debut album, entitled First Collection 2006–2009, on Nonesuch in Europe and Sub Pop for the rest of the world, on November 9. The package features content spanning the early days of Fleet Foxes' career, including the self-titled full-length debut album on 12" vinyl, as well as the Sun Giant EP on 10" vinyl and the first vinyl releases of both the very limited-edition, previously only self-released The Fleet Foxes EP on 10" and B-Sides & Rarities on 10". David Byrne's American Utopia tour, which has earned rave review across continents throughout the year, has been shortlisted for a Q Award for Best Live Act. Singer Mandy Patinkin and pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett's Diary: April/May 2018, the second in their Diary series of musical installments, is out now on Nonesuch. The fourteen tracks of this Diary entry, recorded in Bartlett's NYC studio, include two songs written by Patinkin himself plus songs by Randy Newman, Laurie Anderson, Bob Dylan, Patty Griffin, Harry Nilsson, Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Taylor Mac, Keren Ann, and Stephen Sondheim. Mountain Man's first album in eight years, Magic Ship, out next Friday, September 21, is streaming in full till then as an NPR First Listen. The new album distills eight years of experience since their 2010 debut album, Made the Harbor, of sights seen, pleasures had, feelings hurt, forgiveness extended. "There's also a precision to these songs—both in harmony and duration—that lend them a sense of purpose," writes NPR's Otis Hart. Gabriel Kahane has written original music for the Broadway premiere production of Kenneth Lonergan's play The Waverly Gallery. The production, starring Elaine May, Lucas Hedges, Joan Allen, and Michael Cera, and directed by Lila Neugebauer, begins in previews at the John Golden Theatre on Tuesday, September 25. Kahane is currently on tour performing music from his new album, Book of Travelers.

Rostam has released a new song, "In a River," his first new song since his debut album, Half-Light, last year. Watch the video, directed by Rostam and animated by Jon Race, here. "I often want the songs I produce to be meeting places for organic and electronic sounds—old traditions and new ones," Rostam says. “‘In a River’ is new territory for me, because although it’s a studio recording, it’s pulling from one of the oldest traditions in music, a live performance in front of an audience." He performs at Belly Up in Solana Beach and The Fonda Theatre in LA this week.

Caetano Veloso and David Byrne caught up backstage at Byrne's American Utopia concert on Friday, and Veloso took in the concert from the crowd. He shared his beautiful response to the show on his Instagram, roughly translated from the Portuguese here. "The David Byrne (American Utopia) show is incredible," says Veloso.
