    Nonesuch Records looks forward to taking part in The Brooklyn Flea Record Fair's fall 2018 edition, which will be held at East River State Park in Williamsburg, on Saturday, September 22, from 11am to 6pm. The free event includes DJ sets, a beer garden, and a record label and independent record store market, and is situated next to Smorgasburg and its delicious food and drink options.     Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly's album Peter Pears: Balinese Ceremonial Music, featuring nine songs they wrote plus three gamelan transcriptions by ethnomusicologist Colin McPhee, was released on Nonesuch in May. Here, the writer Hilton Als shares the story behind the album and his thoughts on it.

    Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly's Peter Pears: Ceremonial Music Remixes is out now on Nonesuch. It includes reimagined versions of two tracks from their album Peter Pears: Balinese Ceremonial Music: "Balthasar" remixed by E*vax (of Ratatat) and "Eusebius" remixed by Kid Koala. ​Drowned in Sound called the album "exceptional ... simultaneously tense and light, dramatic and calming, an originality which few albums can fully lay claim to."

    Olivia Chaney closes out her US summer tour in Los Angeles tonight. She performs songs from her new album, Shelter, as she did at Hoxton Hall in London back in June when the album was released. You can now watch her perform "Roman Holiday" and "House on a Hill" from that show, joined by Jordan Hunt and Chris Vatalaro, in the video here, directed by Bobby Williams.

    Rhiannon Giddens's program as a performer at and guest curator of the 2018 North Carolina Folk Festival has been announced. The free event takes place in her hometown of Greensboro, September 7–9. Giddens's program includes a performance and discussion with public school students; an evening of jazz, spoken word, and tap dance; a symposium and a workshop on banjo cultures and traditions; a performance on the roots of American dance; a concert of songs from Giddens's Nonesuch albums; and more.

    David Byrne's 1986 film True Stories will receive its Blu-Ray and DVD via the Criterion Collection on November 20, 2018. The complete film soundtrack will also be released for the first time on Nonesuch this fall; details to come. Byrne was inspired by tabloid headlines to make True Stories, his sole foray into feature film directing, an ode to the extraordinariness of ordinary American life and a distillation of what was in his own idiosyncratic mind. He uses his songs to stitch together pop iconography, voodoo rituals, and a singular variety show-all in the service of uncovering the rich mysteries that lurk under the surface of everyday experience.

    Mountain Man embarks on a fourteen-city US tour—its first in six years—this October, following the release of the acclaimed band's first album in eight years, Magic Ship, on September 21, 2018. The tour starts in Washington, DC, on October 22 and runs through November 17, making stops in Brooklyn, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, and more.
